Questions?

Here are the details regarding booking child care with Mountain Child Care.  If your question isn’t answered here, please call or email us at any time.

I didn’t book in advance…..

Our child care centre is not drop-in.  We recommend making a booking as far in advance as possible avoid disappointment.  You may contact us on short notice to see if space is available for that day however space may be much more limited and there is a large amount of paperwork that must be completed prior to drop off time.

What documents are needed for a child care booking?

The Mountain Child Care registration form and emergency information form must be completed and returned to us prior to the care date.  Required information on these forms include your child’s medical number, your child’s doctors name and number and emergency contacts.  Our Welcome Handbook must also be read and our Parent/Care Provider Agreement signed and returned to Mountain Child Care by drop-off time on your child’s care date.

A digital photograph will be taken of your child upon arrival to have on-hand for emergencies.  If you would prefer, you may provide us with a recent, clear photograph of your child.

If your child is on medication or has severe allergies, please provide us with detailed information regarding the medicine and its administration.  We have a “Permission To Administer Medicine” form which must be completed.

I want to pay for my child care booking……

Full payment is required at the time the booking is confirmed.  Payment may be made by credit card (Visa, MC, Amex and Diners), debit card or cash.  If you would like to pay be debit or cash upon arrival, a credit card must be given to hold your booking.

Any cancellations made more than one week before the scheduled care time, will receive a refund minus a $15 administration fee.  Any cancellations made within one week of the scheduled care time will have no refund.  Any changes made to a current booking within one week of the scheduled care time will be charged a $15 administration fee.  There will be no refunds due to weather conditions.  Factors such as highway closures will be taken into consideration.

I am coming to drop-off/pick-up my child….

Mountain Child Care is located within the Sutton Place Hotel.  From the base of the Revelstoke Mountain Resort gondola, follow the plaza down past Rockford Wok Bar Grill and continue past Wino wine bar.  You will see our sign outside of double glass doors.  Enter the hotel here and turn right down the hallway.  Our centre is located just around the corner.

Drop off and pick up time in our Centre can be quite busy and crowded due to limited space.  Please limit the number of people coming to drop off your child and be prepared with weather-appropriate clothing, indoor shoes and ski equipment (if needed).  Please ensure all clothing and equipment is labelled with your child’s name.  Children must be signed in and out of our child care centre by both parents and staff.

Children must be picked up by the program end-time.  A late fee of $10.00 will be charged for every 15 minutes delay.

My child stills naps….

We provide nap time/quiet time for all children in the early afternoon.  We have a quiet, sectioned-off space for those children that sleep and other children will be engaged in quiet activities such as reading and puzzles.

My child is toilet-training….

All children develop at a different pace, so we understand that we will have a wide range of toileting abilities.  If your child is still in diapers, please include a change of clothes and adequate supply of diapers for the day.  If your child is toilet-training, we will encourage and ask the children to use the potty however we will not force them.  Please include pull-ups for your “in-between stages” child.  We know that accidents happen at all ages so please include a change of clothes for your child.

My child has never been in daycare before……

We understand this may be your child’s first visit to Revelstoke and/or Mountain Child Care.  Our care providers are experienced with all ages of children and understand the warmth and care needed to help a child feel secure and welcome.  In order for your child to feel comfortable, we encourage a visit to the child care centre prior to your child’s care day.  Please contact Mountain Child Care to arrange a time for you and your child to visit the centre and meet the care providers.

Who will be watching my child?

Please visit “Our Care Providers” page on this website for full details on our skilled employees.

I am packing our bags….

Please remember when preparing for your child care day, the children will be playing outside in most weather.  Snow pants, jacket, hat, mitts and boots are required.  Please bring inside shoes for your child.  Layers would be most comfortable for inside and outside play.  Jeans are not recommended.  A thermal layer or long johns are recommended, especially if your child is skiing.  Waterproof gloves or mittens are recommended for keeping hands warm and dry.

I have a 10-month old……

Our child care licensing regulations restricts us to watching only children 18-months old up to until they start Grade 1.  Any children 6 years and older can attend lessons and care through Kids ROC at Revelstoke Mountain Resort.  For younger children, we have compiled a listing of available babysitters.  It is the parent’s responsibility to contact these babysitters and make care arrangements.  Mountain Child Care does
to have any responsibility in the conduct or service of these babysitters.

My child is taking a skiing lesson….

Lift tickets are free for children 5 and under.  For those children in lessons, their instructor will have their free lift ticket at the start of the lesson. Ski lessons do not include equipment so please bring your own equipment or arrange rentals prior to lesson/care day.  We have space to store skis, poles and boots in the child care centre on the day of the lesson.  A helmet is included with rentals.

My child cannot eat…….

Please let us know if your child have dietary allergies, sensitivities or restrictions.  We supply lunch (for full days) and snacks.  We will try our best to have a variety of nutritious foods that will appeal to most children.  If your child does have specific allergies or restrictions, please supply lunch and snacks for them.  We have a refrigerator in the centre.  Our weekly menu is posted in the entrance area of the child care centre.  Please contact us to have the menu sent to you.
